Tom Basinski
After studying to be a Catholic priest for five years while earning a B.A. in English Literature from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, Tom Basinski traded his Roman collar for a badge and gun, patrolling the mean streets of hometown Flint, Michigan.
After a year and a half in Flint, Tom moved to California where he worked for the Chula Vista Police (17 years), and as an investigator for the San Diego District Attorney (17 years).
While a homicide detective for Chula Vista, Basinski began writing true crime stories for various pulp magazines, eventually selling over 125 true crime stories.
His first book, NO GOOD DEED, (Berkley True Crime) has enjoyed commercial success. The story details a fiery murder in San Diego that took three years to solve and has many twists and turns, including the attempted contract murder of a defense attorney.
His second book, CROSS-COUNTRY EVIL is the compelling story of a 1988 San Diego homicide that was not solved until 2005. The book features a tireless police investigation that ends in Daytona Beach, Florida and includes an exclusive prison interview with the convicted killer. This blockbuster is due to be released January 6, 2009.
Basinski and his wife, Judy, have two grown sons. They live in Chula Vista, California and Clio, Michigan. |
